Diggin' In 2019: The Hollyridge Parkway

  • 2301 Hollyridge Drive Los Angeles CA (map)

Let’s officially dig into 2019 by getting our hands dirty!

Longtime neighbors and doting Diggin’ In tree parents Jacob and Amy Weber made us an offer we couldn’t refuse.  Their new home on Hollyridge has a strip of land that runs for almost 200 feet, right along the street.  The perfect spot to plant a bunch of fruit trees – which is just what they’ve invited us to do!

We’ve got over a dozen trees and raspberry plants we potted last season that are crying out to be put into the ground. And we know of no place better than what we’re calling The Hollyridge Parkway! But we need YOUR help to plant these trees. Help us grow our community orchard by getting your hands in the dirt! And guess what? This is also a great opportunity to learn how to properly plant and care for a young tree.

We can’t think of a better way to kick off the first weekend of the new year. Be sure to bring gloves, a hat for the sun, a water bottle, and possibly. a light rain jacket in case it rains (which is PERFECT weather for tree planting!). There should be street parking nearby — just be sure to read the signs.

In addition to planting volunteers we also need a couple of people act as outreach volunteers at the event. The outreach volunteers will help talk about the Hollywood Orchard to passers by and provide lemonade for the planting volunteers. Two shifts are available for outreach – from 9 am-10:30 am and 10:30 am-12 noon. Please note in your RSVP if you are interested in planting or helping with outreach.
