Oh, yes, it’s that time of the year. Please join us on April 20th from 9AM-2PM for our Loquat-a-palooza Pick-n-Kitchen. We'll be harvesting neighborhood loquats, cleaning and processing them, and turning a portion into salsa. And the best part? The majority of the harvest will be donated to A Place Called Home and the Downtown Women's Center.

We'll need some hands to help pick the fruit, and A LOT of hands to process it. The loquat, commonly called Japanese plum, is a very delicate, juicy, yellow-gold fruit, that typically contains 2 or 3 large brown seeds. The skin is thin and needs to be handled with care, thus making the cleaning process a bit slower. The pay off is big, however, and once you taste a tree-ripened loquat you'll realize it's worth the effort. Plus, everyone can take home a jar of freshly made loquat salsa!

Please RSVP so we know how many volunteers to expect. Want to be on the harvest crew? Wear long sleeves and sunscreen, and bring pruners, water and gloves. Want to be a kitchenista? Please bring rubber gloves and a dishtowel that you don't mind getting dirty. Want to try your hand at both? Yes! We'd love your help. Please RSVP via the link below.
